Material Performance
With the corrugated mesh , we aimed at creating a chamber to reflect sound. The sound reflects into the chamber through the cylindrical shapes where it bounces around. With each bounce, the sound diminishes eventually fading away. As for the net structures, they began as an experiment of creating a flexible model using rope. Rope as a material is malleable with potential to be used in infinite ways. The joinery technique of the rope holds the net structure together yet maintains flexibility to shape the net in any way. The addition of panels in the openings provides additional support for the structure to be more sturdy. The weight of the structure then transfers through the rope onto the panels creating a multitude of configurations.
